Terrific replacement part

When our grill stopped working, we were aghast. The plastic Acme Nut had broken and I assumed we would have to pay a lot of money for a service call to replace it. Then, we decided to search for the part number on Amazon and this popped up. It's exactly the same regulator that came with the original Vermont Castings grill and was incredibly easy to replace. I would, of course, recommend that you do purchase some teflon tape to wrap on the threaded end (3/8th-inch pipe thread) just to be certain of a tight seal, but this is definitely a repair/replacement that the average home handyman can make.

Very good for tight spaces.

We have an old coal fireplace which is only 8" deep. We could not find any type of gas flame logs that would fit at all. This product installed easily and fit almost perfectly into the space. We still get the look of a fire and additional heat. The heater aspect of it has a high & low setting and is very quiet. Another advantage point is we don't have to worry about small children getting to close to a flame and getting burnt. I am very pleased with this product.

The Flame Looks So Real

Last summer I had our wood burning medal fireplace chimney removed and the fireplace capped. This left our fireplace useless. I looked at gas inserts and gas logs but didnt like the way they looked or they wouldn't fit. Then I saw this Dimplex electric in a furniture store. I was amazed how real it looked. I ordered it.It only took 3 days to come. Took it out of the box and put it in the fireplace opening and had it going in 20 minutes. It looks far better than any gas unit. The flame looks real and the embers looks great too. Guests come to the house and say it looks like a real fire. I am very happy with this unit. Thank you Dimplex and thank you Amazon.

Love it!

I love the look and feel of fireplaces, but they are very rare in South Florida, where I live. An artificial fireplace was the answer for me. I bought this insert to replace a unit that burned gel cans in a freestanding fireplace. This electric unit is beautiful! I like it so much more than the gel can type. This unit has a very realistic look. The logs are "real" (3-dimensional), not painted onto a screen like some others I've seen. The embers seem like they are really glowing and the "flames" dance realistically. And it is nice to be able to use it without heat if you wish. I highly recommend this fireplace insert.

Warm toes in Minnesota

It gets cold in Minnesota! We have a large family room in our older house with a horribly cold floor (it's built over a crawl space). I wouldn't think of sitting in this room without wool socks and slippers. Not any more! The rug buddy as transformed the floor into a cozy oasis where you want to keep your feet. I also believe it has warmed the entire room.The room has a hardwood floor and an area rug. We installed the Rug Buddy between the rug pad and the rug. The installation was easy and except for the cord you don't see it or feel it when you walk on the rug (you feel the warmth but not the thickness of the Rug Buddy). My only complaint is the cord which I felt was too short.

I did much research before arriving at this purchase. I live in New England and have electric heat. My baseboard heaters run efficiently, but use between 750 and 1250 watts per heater. At 16.2 cents per kilowatt hour, the heating costs add up. I bought this and the 165 watt rugbuddy based on amazon reviews, and, after researching different types of electric space heaters, I thought the rugbuddy might heat my living space with lower watts. The rugbuddy works well in conjunction with other heaters running at lower temperatures, but is not so great as the sole heating source unless the weather is brisk outside. The 165 works great in conjunction with the smallest, 350/500 watt baseboard heater in the bedroom. when it is 17 to 20 degrees outside, the room is 64 degrees inside. Plastic window insulation, thermal curtains, weather stripping, and caulking all contribute to help raise the temperature while lowering power consumption. However, the 470, I feel should emit a little more heat. I have been contemplating testing out a piece of aluminum foil between the rugbuddy and the rug to increase the heat produced. But I'm not quite sure if that will lead down the path to Darwin award candidacy. I wish the manufacturer would supply a rug mat that might amplify the heat in such a manner with safety consciousness in mind.

keeps feet warm, but no switch or timer; expensive

Size: 13 1/2 x 20 1/2 inches. This isn't included in the description.I bought this foot warmer a few years ago though I can't remember where or what the price was, but $58 (as of January 2012) is expensive when you can buy Indus-Tool FWXXX Cozy Electric Foot Warming Pad for $36.40.It does warm nicely after a few minutes, almost too warm.The mat has a 5 1/2-foot cord but no switch, so I had to plug/unplug it each time I used it; the outlet is behind a desk and not easy to access. To overcome this inconvenience I bought a cheap switch that I plugged into a short extension cord which is plugged into the outlet, and the foot warmer plugs into the switch. Now I have the switch within reach. Still, I have to remember to turn it off.This is from the WARNING tag attached to the cord:Do not cover mat with anything. Covering can cause a possible overheating condition and damage to flooring below.Do not use if damaged.Not to be used as a heat pad for animals.Unplug when not in use.Made in China.

Started melting my the soles of my shoes!

I found this in a free bin at a thrift store and the unit works so well at getting hot that it was melting the soles of my shoes! I am thinking of building a thermostat to or buying a dimmer switch to lower the maximum temperature that this thing can produce. I have found a lot of similar products that state the max temp to be 140 degrees F.

Luv That Foot Warmer!

Purchased the Bird-X foot warmer with some apprehension after reading some of the other reviews. My warmer arrived in just four days....almost instantgratification. Plugged it in straight away. I did not have any problem whatsoever with the "new rubber smell". The unit takes about 10 minutes to heatup fully....and it is heaven. We live in the mountains of Colorado so the temperature is often below zero. The unit can actually too hot after about ahalf hour but that is perfect.... Luv That Foot Warmer!

What a buy!

Is it possible to love a heater? If so, I do. This little guy puts out some serious heat, distributes it well in my 15'x15' room, and does both quietly. Prior to buying this, I had purchased a radiator type heater that just didn't put out much heat so I returned it. I love that I can turn on the thermostat and let it go. Nothing more to think about. The oscillation feature is a huge perk. The only thing I'd add is a feature that automatically turns the unit off if it is knocked over. I paid fifty bucks for it at my local HD, which I did so I could easily return it if need be. No need. I'll run this thing 'til it keels over.

I just got this Heater and LOVE IT!! I'm so glad I bought this one because I had just bought a Holmes (non-ceramic) and hated it.This heater really heats up the space quick, is quiet, has a remote and is perfect in its design because it fits everywhere. Great looking Heater too!!

The TPI Corporation OCH46-120V quartz electric infrared heater operates at 1.5kW, has a frosted quartz infrared tube that helps provide even distribution of radiant heat from ceiling to floor, and a stainless steel housing that helps resist corrosion and is rated for suspended, exposed outdoor use or indoor spot heating by Edison Testing Laboratories (ETL, a division of Intertek Group PLC). The reflector is made of gold anodized aluminum that helps provide efficient transfer of radiant energy into the room or workspace in a 60-degree symmetrical heat pattern.The unit can be suspended from the ceiling using the included two 2’ length chains and four S-hooks, or surface mounted using the included mounting bracket with 45-degree tilt adjustment. The unit has an electrical enclosure with lead wires for direct field connection, and includes a cordset with plug. The single-phase, 120V wiring is compatible with some standard circuits. The unit weighs 10 lb. and can be used with temperature controls (sold separately).

An element made of a combination of metals produces heat or infrared energy by the electrical resistance created when an electric current passes through it. Not as warm as I'd hoped, but it works,

Don't mistake this 5000BTU unit for those commercial heaters mounted waaay up high throwing heat like the sun.. 1500W is 1500W. But its safer than my propane radiant heater.I hung this up over a work bench in my unheated garage. It was 40F and I was expecting a nice warm glow.. the glow was there but the heat was barely noticeable. Initially 7 feet from the floor and angled towards me, I wound up lowering it to 6 feet. My hands got cold so I held them inches away from the element to warm them up.. it took a few moments.Also, this unit does not include any cord or plug as described. You'll have to mount a box on the side and provide your own wiring.. I used 12 gauge to be cautious but now I see 14 gauge would have been plenty.EDIT: After having this for a few months I like it better.. but in colder weather use it along with my propane heater. for a freezing cold garage its not adequate even when standing right underneath. But in moderate temps (45F+) it takes the bite off the cold, at least on my head and shoulders.
