Throw 'n some heat!

I bought this UFO heater last winter for my infant son's room. The remote control was a nice touch (you can operate the heater from the door of the room without having to enter and wake your sleeping child). I am very satisfied with the amount of heat that this unit produces. It warms his 14x12 room comfortably in minutes rather than hours with a pelonis heater that I had previously used. On cold nights, I set the heat setting to 3, then adjust it down after my son falls to sleep. This heater on high(5) can easily raise the temperature in the room by 10 degrees or more - in what feels like a heartbeat. Considering the UFO's powerful heat, I was unsure how much energy it was using. So I purchased a Kill-A-Watt tester here on Amazon last month. Upon testing my usage and duration with the Kill-A-Watt, I calculated that this UFO heater had used about $6.75 worth of electricity in during the 8 day trial. Wow! Impressive, under $25 per month in the winter months to keep my son's room comfortable! UFO heaters have one happy customer. I have already purchased one for my brother as a gift and bought a second one to be installed in the kid's playroom in my basement. Thanks again, UFO!

Good heater

This heater works well. I was leary of the "orange glow" but this is not a problem. It is compact, makes no noise, heats up quickly (as in 10 seconds). It seems well made and I am glad I got the remote control version. Mounting was no problem. I looked at infrared heaters extensively, and this one is a better price, uses a standard plug (not hard wired), and is better looking. Be aware that if you are not in the direct path of the light, you don't feel the heat. Mounted at 7' high, it casts out about 7 feet, but the first 2 feet directly under the unit you feel NO HEAT. If I had another circuit, I would put two heaters up for better coverage.

I think the most impressive technology isthe amount of heat the unit supplies from its filament considering the low 1,500 Watt and the strong reflector behind the filament is definitely helping not to waste the 360 degree infrared.The number one concern for most consumers is the savings; if you like to find out how much it will cost you to run this heater, find out from your local power provider the cost of1 kilowatt/hour then multiply it by 1.5 The result will give you the total cost of running this heater for one hour at its maximum level. You should keep in mind, you will probably not use the heater at its maximum level at all times. Compared to other infrared heaters, the unit provides much more heat, in a way that can be converted into more savings. You will more likely reduce the heat level, consuming less power.During cold temperature, it is almost impossible to heat our sunroom, it takes hours to heat the space. I love to read and enjoy our sunroom. I placed one of the heaters in our sunroom. Once I seat down, I turn the heater at its maximum for about 10-15 minutes, once it gets warm enough I reduce it to level 3(1,200Watt) then level 2(1,050Watt). At level 2, it is still supplying 1,050Watt.My two cents...

Hot, hot, . . . hot product!

This heater was perfect for replacing our 31 year old bathroom heater as we required dimensions that would cover the hole in the wall with surrounding antique tile. The Stiebel Eltron is very quiet and immediately produces a strong flow of warm air so one can bath without waiting to warm the room. Great product and attractive in it's white design.

These heaters are well made, look good and are quiet. I prefer this type of heater to the common type that fits between the wall studs inside the wall.They are expensive (made in W Germany), but I have not had any problems with them, and used about about seven in various houses.For new construction I suggest connect the heater power to a wall switch. I usually file the (metric) heater cable hole and use a standard US conduit fitting, then run the pipe through the wall behind the heater. That way there are no cables dangling near the heater.The connector block for the power wires uses very small screws so you may have to use a smallflat blade screwdriver and file it to fit the holes if necessary.

Hi, My name is Eric. I have thought about getting one of these infrared heaters for the past couple months now. I live in Southern Indiana, in a well insulated bedford stone home. We have right at 1000 sq. feet. Our main source of heating is an electric heat pump, with baseboard heating as a supplement. I am a Realtor, so I see a lot of homes and I thought if this heater would work for a home it would be mine, because of the size and the great amount of insulation I have. For people that don't know, Bedford stone homes are very solid, and in most cases well insulated. I did my research on these infrared heaters. I have probably read through hundreds of reviews trying to find the best heater. What I found out was that for every heater out there your probably going to find a few bad reviews. People have to understand that every home is different and what works for some might not work for others. Main things you have to take in to consideration is the amount of insulation, celing heights, and amount of sq. feet you are trying to heat. Instead of me telling you all the different sites out there that I went to, I'm just gonna tell you what I found out. Even the more expensive brands like Comfort furnace and Eden pure, who sell over $300. dollars have some very bad reviews. My office has an Eden pure and it heats my particular office which is 15 x 13 with an 8 foot celing and on the second level. It will not heat the entire upstairs, which includes a hallway and three other offices.(less that 1000 sq. feet. I think this brand is way over priced. I came across the Duraflame Quartz heater. I liked how simple it seemed. No high, medium, or low. Just turn it on and set your degrees. Plus it came in at $212. So I went with this one. I ordered it on a thursday night and it came the next friday.(which was 3 days ago. 12/16/11.) I unboxed the heater and it looked great. Big in size but very impressive. I plugged it in and only smelled the burnt plastic smell for 10 minutes. Which every infrared heater on the market will tell you that you might smell this smell with the first few uses. With the first two nights of use, the temps. got into the high 20's. I set my home thermostat to 66 degrees. I set my thermostat on the heater to 74 degrees. My heat pump has not kicked on one time since I turned the heater on. The home thermostat has not dropped below 70 degrees. This unit has absolutely amazed me so far. Every inch of my home is warm. The g/f and I love this heater. I am not too worried about when temps get in the teens and even colder because I can turn this infrared heater up another 15 degrees or so. The unit gets the home to a set temp and then shuts its self off untill it drops a couple degrees below the set temp. I definitely recommend this heater. I could not be more happy with my purchase. As far as energy savings, I can't say yet. But I know it takes less energy to run this heater than it does my heat pump. So I'm sure I will be satisfied when the bill arrives. THIS HEATER IS WONDERFUL.

quartz heater

What a beautiful quartz heater. It is like a piece of furniture. We live in an old farmhouse in Northeast PA. Lots of drafts in the kitchen where we placed this unit. We used to have to eat in the dining room during the cold winter months but are now able to sit at the kitchen table, thanks to this heater. The cord and wheels allow you to aim it at the sink or stove or anywhere you are working. With the price of heating oil over $3.10/gallon, this has helped to keep the kitchen warm. Thanks!!

OK for a small room.

I live in Ohio in a small wood frame country home. My main source of heat in the winter is a forced air propane furnace. Propane is very expensive and I bought this Duraflame heater to help keep my heating bill down. It is in my livingroom which is about 14' x 18' with 9' ceiling. The heater is a beautiful peice of furniture. Very attractive wood, and it is quite heavy, which I think is always a sign of quality construction. I have to admit that this unit has kept my furnace from running so far, however, we haven't had any really cold weather yet. BUT, we have had a couple cold nights in the 30's and the heater couldn't keep up. I have a feeling that when the weather turns really cold this heater isn't going to do much good. It seems to be great for cool weather but not for the really cold stuff.The thermostat on my unit is absolutely useless. The thermostat setting displayed on the unit dosen't seem to have anything to do with the real world. You have to find a setting that is close to what you want and don't pay any attention to the digital display. It is a very quiet unit, which is nice. Overall I think if you live in an area with a mild climate, this is a nice unit and worth the money. However if you live in an area where winters are really cold, you will need something more powerful. There is no way this unit will heat a 1000' sq. ft. area as advertised unless the ceiling is only about 6" high.

small, handy, heats a small space quickly

This is about Tool King as well as the CZ707 Heater. I have had excellent and very prompt service from these people. When I ordered this heater it arrived very quickly, however there was exterior damage, so I phoned the company. They sent a replacement immediately, no questions asked, within a week I had a brand new heater. The little heater works fine, as advertised. It is compact, a little cube and should be very safe since it won't topple over. It's compact & easy to handle. Heater has a very low setting so it can stay on for hours and keeps the bathroom comfortable. The thermostat works fine. It really takes the chill off, heats quickly, & doesn't use much power to do it. As far as I can tell there are no problems at all with this heater (I've only had this for a few weeks). Even better, I feel that if there was a problem Tool King would act promptly to correct it.

I have had this heater for a month now and I absolutely love it. I cannot believe how much heat this little heater provides. I have it under my desk at work and it is perfect to warm my feet on these cold mornings. The heater I had before this one would run all day but this one puts out so much heat, I can turn it off for part of the day. I would recommend this heater for anyone who wants under the desk heat. I do not know how it would work in a room but from the amount of heat it is putting out I would think it would do the job. I would buy this again should the need arise.

Perfect Personal Heater

This little item fits the bill perfectly. It is light weight, small, well-made, easy to move around, quiet and warm. I have yet to use the "high" setting, as it generates sufficient heat to keep my legs and feet warm under my desk, which is close to a cold (exterior) wall in the building.

Best Space Heater, Despite Some Drawbacks

I bought this heater for our basement, which is perpetually colder than the rest of the house and near freezing during the winter. I was considering wall-mounted heating panels, but would have to install three in order to adequately heat our ~1000 sq ft baseement. This heater has proved to be a good choice overall. Here are the pros and cons:Pros:-Adequately heats large area (1000 sq ft basement kept at 66 F at 30% power)-Lower power consumption (haven't noticed any jump in my power bill from using this)-Cool to the touch even after hours of operating--the only part that gets somewhat hot is the vent itself on the front of the unit (totally safe for our young children and cats)-No odors like kerosene or other space heaters produce-Small size takes up very little space and easy to position anywhere in the room-Portable--unlike wall-mounted heaters, this will easily move wherever you want it (this even has wheels)-Simple operation--just three buttons total (included remote nice, but not needed)Cons:-No digital thermostat--although it was easy to figure out what setting keeps our basement at the right temperature-Slow heating, requring about an hour to heat up a large space (I just leave it on continuously during winter)-Circulation fans inside the unit make a mild noise, though not severe (can easily hear TV over the heater)-While not bad-looking, its appearance is better suited for the basement or family room than next to fancy furniture (they have heaters of this type with wooden veneer that would probably work)Despite some definite cons, such as no digital temperature reading, this is the best heater available based on its capacity (does the job of three smaller heaters) and low power consumption. If having a digital temperature control is a must, you could get an outlet thermostat (such as Lux WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat), but I just leave the heater at a setting of 2 or 3 out of 8 and it does just fine through varying outdoor temperatures. Our basement is now a nice, warm play area for our pet and children thanks to this heater.

Would Buy Another One!

My husband and i bought this heater to heat our kitchen/dining area because we only have one source of heat, and that is a coal stove that is all the way at the other end of the house. The coal stove is plenty when the temp doesn't go below the 30's. But when it gets down into the 20's, teens or negatives, the coal stove just isn't enough! We had tried one heater before this and it just didn't work well enough so we sent it back. We live in a large log cabin so we needed something that was going to heat a large area. This duraflame heater works! The staircase to the second story of our house is also in the kitchen/dining area and this little heater also keeps our upstairs comfortable. I love the fact that we don't wake up freezing anymore when we have to get my 5 year old daughter off to school. The first thing she does when she wakes up is plop down in front of it. She loves it! I also like that it's cool to the touch so i don't have to worry about our dogs burning their coats if they get too close to it. Thinking about getting another one to heat the other half of the house and get rid of the coal stove. lol I would definitely recommend this little heater to a friend or family member. :)

Duraflame Portable Infrared Heater

I ordered this product to heat a block garage that is approx. 600 square feet. We use the space for band practice. It works so well I now use it inside of my house. I was told by several people that a portable heater would not be enough but this one is. It is cheaper to use than the kerosene heater that we were using, and helps out with the home heating bill. I highly recommend this product.

Good fan for side wall.

I just installed this in our little half bath. We wanted a fan that could be installed without tearing out shhet rock to run ducting and had an exterior wall in the room. Installation of the fan was very easy and took maybe 1/2 hour. I spent most of my time trying to splice into the light circuit and pulling romex. The fan is not loud or quiet, really in between. Many of the parts are light and a little fragile, but I was able to get mine in with out much trouble and even used the mid-wall extension piece that came with it. I had to trim it with a pair of tin-snips as I only needed about an inch of it, but it all works fine.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do!

Ordered this to install in my sunroom (3 season room) to remove the hot air that rises when the sun pours in. Installation is not easy (probably because of the sidewalls in my sunroom) but a contractor friend of mine cut the 6" hole, wired it to a switch, and mounted it on a box on the sidewall. VOILA! I think it lowers the temperature by at least 5-10 degrees when it's hot in there. Runs quietly also.
