This Dimplex industrial unit heater has spiral finned elements and a sealed ball-bearing motor. The ceiling hanger bracket is included and optional wall bracket is available (allows swivel movement). The five-way adjustable louvers to direct airflow. The heating element has a metal tubular sheath fused with spiral steel fins and contains a high quality nickel-chromium wire, encased in solidly packed magnesium oxide insulation. The fan size and pitch is matched to the power and speed of the unit, to optimize CFM, air throw, temperature rise, and quietness. The motor is heavy duty, continuous operation, totally enclosed, thermally protected with permanently lubricated ball bearings. Heats 800 Sq Ft turned up only half way to 60 degrees!

This heater is dynamite! it heats my 800 sq ft shop, no problem. If i turn it up 3/4 of the way, it will be 75 degrees! Does a great job, runs fairly quite. I even use my shop for an office, and can talk on the phone with out a problem while it runs. electric bill is up only 100 and that is keeping my shop at 55 degrees when i not out there and at least 70 to 75 when i am, and that is alot. Worth the money! I did tape up drafty spots in the shop and put insulation in the attic. FYI

Beefy Little Unit

I plan to insulate/drywall my unfinished garage next spring. Currently it's about 40% insulated, and a thick vapor barrier is attached to the ceiling joists. The space measures 20' X 19', with a 10' ceiling.The Wattage/BTUs required for the FINISHED space worked out to 5KW. In the interim, I need just enough heat to get me by until springtime. I researched, and chose the Dimplex over a comparable Dayton heater.Amazon shipped the unit in no time flat. Was immediately impressed by the no-nonsense construction of this thing. Heavy gauge steel throughout, 3 large sealed heating elements with hundreds of fins brazed to the elements. Large 5-bladed fan with a huge drive motor. Not to mention the weight - at 36 pounds, this is no milkhouse heater.Installation was pretty simple. I had already installed the wall bracket and roughed in the electric service. Took about 40 minutes from unpacking to fully operational.Energized the service breakers, set the thermostat, and the Dimplex came to life. This unit pushes an awful lot of air, yet the blower is surprisingly quiet. No, it's not whisper-silent, but fan noise is quite tolerable. Another thing that struck me is the complete lack of any vibration or jitter - the motor shaft and fan blade are balanced nicely. Quality.Starting temp inside was 50 degrees, it was 37 degrees outside. One hour of continuous operation, and the inside temp was a tad over 60. Two hours of running, and the garage was now at a toasty 70 degrees. Backed off the thermo, and checked the temp a couple hours later. It was holding steady at 58, and cycling on about 3 times per hour. Once up to temp, the unit does not kick in for very long.I left the unit on all night. Outside temp bottomed at around 34 degrees. Next morning, the normally chilly garage was a comfortable 62 degrees.I can't expect to keep this unfinished space at 70 degrees during the dead of winter, but I'm confident this unit will maintain a steady 50 degrees. Time will tell what impact it has on my electric bill, but I'm not kidding myself - 5000 Watts is a hefty amount of power. I'll have to find a balance between maximum heat and energy usage.For most folks installing this unit at home, I would strongly suggest that you mount it using the optional wall bracket. The ceiling bracket supplied with the unit only has 6 inches of clearance between the ceiling and the top of the elements. In my opinion, that's not enough of a safety margin. I've been able to maintain garage temp between 42-55 degrees without a major hit on the electric bill. You do have to be careful, though. A difference of just 5 or 10 degrees can really spike the power consumption. Tried running at a constant 60-65 degrees in December, and my monthly bill almost doubled.
