This product really works well to start a log fire in a fireplace. The problem is that the description doesn't make it clear as to what quantity you're actually purchasing, which is Duraflame's fault, not Amazon's. So, look at the product photo. The wrapped package in front of the box, is much smaller than the box. In that package is four "double sticks" of fire starter - each "double stick" is split in half, each half is placed under the opposite ends of a log, with another log over the first one. Sooooooo, one package will start four fires in your fireplace. There are six packages in the box, so the quantity in the box will start 24 fires. That's what the "24" on the box means. You didn't know that? You need to work on your clairvoyance (#sarcasm).I do hope this makes the package more clear.

We've used these for years to get the fire started in the fireplace. It takes awhile especially with a cold down-draft coming down the chimney, but using these to slowly warm up the chimney, then opening a window/door to let some cooler air in, helps the fire get going much faster.
